High-capacity backbone

Wide-area, low-latency internet connection has been achieved using KDDI's high-capacity global backbone. KDDI has built backbones in the US, Hong Kong and Singapore, enabling a direct, high-capacity connection with these countries. The covered area will gradually be expanded.

Enhanced network management system

KDDI's Network Operation Center monitors SLA (Service Level Agreement), BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) sessions and traffic troubles 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. In addition, it carries out constant monitoring of network traffic and performs scheduled network upgrades to maintain high performance.In the event of a failure, staff at the center move swiftly to verify the situation, contact the customer by fax or email and implement the necessary recovery steps. The center also handles customer inquiries 24 hours a day.

IPv4/IPv6 support

Users can select IPv4, IPv6 or IPv4 + IPv6 on one circuit according to their usage status. KDDI provides the following routings to meet users' needs.

  • IPv4: BGP (Global AS) full transit / Static
  • IPv6: BGP (Global AS) full transit / Static

3. Maintenance and support

KDDI specialist staff monitor the network 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, ensuring a stable and pleasant network environment.
KDDI provides a 24-hour dedicated phone number for customers' enquiries and notification of problems.

Service Level Agreement (SLA)

KDDI has set a SLA for the following four items and guarantees service quality by establishing a guarantee standard for each.

  • Availability
  • Latency
  • Customer Notification
  • Packet Loss

If the service quality fails to meet the standard, a portion of usage charges will be adjusted accordingly.
The SLA applies to all KDDI Internet Gateway users. No additional application or charge is required.
KDDI will continue to strengthen its SLA and further enhance service quality.

Important Notes

Name server (DNS server)

If you use a mail server, WWW server or other such server with your own domain name at your location, you will be required to provide a DNS.

IP address

The IP address for your network is allocated from KDDI's CIDR (classless inter-domain routing) block in accordance with JPNIC guidelines.The allocated IP address must be returned to KDDI upon cancellation of the service. KDDI provides one IP address per subscription to your router's WAN port (for connecting with KDDI).
